Piers Morgan, who recently went on a Twitter rant, has been cleared by Ofcom over the ‘offensive’ comments he made about Meghan Markle on Good Morning Britain.

Earlier this year, the outspoken TV presenter sensationally quit the ITV show after sharing his thoughts on the Duchess of Sussex’s Oprah Winfrey interview.

At the time, over 57,000 people complained to the media regulator about the fact he said he did not believe she had suffered from mental health problems while working as a Senior Royal.

Ofcom has now reportedly stated that, although the journalist showed an ‘apparent disregard’ over the topic of suicide, it would be a ‘chilling restriction’ for him to face any consequences on sharing his views.

Since hearing the ruling, Morgan has released a statement on Twitter.

It reads: “I’m delighted Ofcom has endorsed my right to disbelieve the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s incendiary claims to Oprah Winfrey, many of which have proven to be untrue. This is a resounding victory for free speech and a resounding defeat for Princess Pinocchio.”

Jokingly, he added: “Do I get my job back?”

Previously, Morgan joked that the only way he would end up presenting on GMB again would be if he ‘identified as a woman’.

He penned: “Good Morning Britain’s tumbling ratings have plunged to their lowest ever level as just 451,000 people tuned in to Wednesday’s show with comedian Adil Ray sitting in my old chair.

“Newspaper reports today suggest ITV want Susanna Reid to have a female-presenting partner to stop the rot.

“If it appeases the woke brigade, I’m prepared to identify as a woman to get the ratings back to the peak of 1.9million where I left them.”

Stranger things have happened.
