Piers Morgan has slammed the Harry Potter cast following the promo release of Return To Hogwarts, as they’ve not supported JK Rowling since she’s faced a backlash over her trans comments.

In the countdown to the 20th-anniversary reunion, the TV presenter has taken to Twitter and dubbed the franchise’s star ‘ungrateful little twerps’ for having publically spoken out against the author’s views.

He tweeted: “Weasley by name, and nature.

“These Potter stars are such a bunch of ungrateful little twerps … more interested in pathetic virtue-signalling than supporting the right of the woman who made them all rich and famous to have an opinion most people agree with.”

The backlash against Rowling began last year when she commented on an article that featured trans-inclusionary language. Instead of saying ‘women who menstruate,’ it said ‘people who menstruate’.

After reading the piece, the author made several statements, including that men who have transitioned into women aren’t truly women.

Following the comments, several Harry Potter stars spoke out against Rowling, with one of the actors dubbing her ‘damaging’.

Chris Rankin, who portrayed Percy Weasley in the films, explained that it is ‘important’ to highlight the fact that ‘when a trans person says they are male or female, that is what they are’.

He told Eastern Daily Press: “I do a lot of work with charities that are LGBTQ+ focused and I raise money for the Albert Kennedy Trust on a regular basis.

“A lot of my family are members of the community. It is a huge part of my life and I think, by saying that, you can probably guess where my allegiances lie in that respect.”

He added: “What is important to highlight is that, when a trans person says they are male or female, that is what they are and that is how we should treat them.

“It is damaging to them to say otherwise.”
