Piers Morgan has slammed Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala look, describing it as a ‘fusion of a trash bag and Taliban burka’.

The ex GMB host said the event has ‘jumped the shark,’ a phrase used to describe something that is no longer cool.

Writing in his Daily Mail column, he claimed Kardashian suffered ‘diabolical ignominy’ as a result of her outfit.

He said: “Kim was mercilessly mocked on social media for wearing what seemed to be a fusion of giant black trash bag and Taliban burka that covered every inch of her body.

“Ironically, she looked better than I’ve seen her for years.”

Next, he took aim at Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who wore a ‘Tax The Rich’ dress. Morgan described her as a ‘towering monument to hilarious hypocrisy’.

He said: “The socialist Congresswoman has spent the past few years lecturing the entire world on the planet-ending evils of materialistic, vacuous, obscenely ostentatious capitalism.

“Yet here she was prancing about on the red carpet at the most materialistic, vacuous, obscenely ostentatious example of capitalism imaginable – surrounded by hundreds of the wealthiest and most privileged people in American society.

“Tickets for the Met Gala cost $35,000 a head, enough to feed three average American families of four for a year according to the United States Department of Agriculture.”

The journalist was more complimentary of 18-year-old British Tennis champion Emma Raducanu’s outfit.

He said she: “Wore a fun, glamorous black-and-white Chanel ensemble that was entirely appropriate for a girl of 18.”

However, Morgan was unimpressed that Brooklyn Beckham had been invited, saying his ‘only claim to fame is being David’s son’.

In conclusion, he said: “The Met Gala’s always been a preposterous load of old twaddle as people with too much money and not enough brain cells wear absurd clothes that no normal person would ever be seen dead in, let alone spend $1000s on buying.”
