Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is happening but Johnny Depp isn’t set to be the lead role.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has reportedly said that there are two scripts being written for the franchise, and one includes actress Margot Robbie.

He made the comment when being interviewed by The Sunday Times, who asked whether the franchise would ever have a female lead.

In response, he simply said: “Yes. We’re talking to Margot Robbie. We are developing two Pirates scripts – one with her, one without.”

After hearing of this possibility, many of Depp’s fans have taken to Twitter and slammed Disney.

One penned: “Before you even think about watching this movie because you like Margot Robbie, please bear in mind that Disney didn’t even have the decency to tell Johnny Depp he wasn’t going to be in the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie. He had to find out through an article.”

Another wrote: “Nothing against Margot Robbie I like her as an actress, but Pirates of the Caribbean is NOTHING WITHOUT JOHNNY DEPP. It’s going to flop so bad.”

In the actor’s defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, he testified that he felt ‘betrayed’ by Disney.

He claimed that after the Aquaman star wrote her op-ed for The Washington Post in 2018, he found out ‘2-3 days’ later that he wouldn’t be involved with the franchise anymore.

When asked out how it made him feel, he testified: “Hurt. Blinding hurt.

“It was like somebody hit me in the back of the head with a 2×4 and, as I said, I had had no ability to speak prior to… because even if I’d done an interview to try and explain myself, it turned into a hit piece. So my mouth was shut.”
