Prince Harry received a standing ovation as he stepped on stage at a charity concert in LA on Sunday night.
The Duke of Sussex appeared alongside the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, and Ben Affleck at the Global Citizen’s Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World, which was put on to promote equitable distribution of coronavirus vaccines worldwide.
The event marked Harry’s first public appearance since his grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral.
Addressing the crowd, he said: “Tonight is a celebration of each of you here, the vaccinated frontline workers in the audience and the million of frontline heroes around the world.
“You spent the last year battling courageously and selflessly to protect us all. You served and sacrificed, put yourselves in harm’s way, and acted with bravery, knowing the costs. We owe you an incredible debt of gratitude. Thank you.”
There have been many reports that Prince Harry’s popularity has dwindled ever since his explosive tell-all interview with his wife, Meghan Markle, and Oprah Winfrey.
However, it seems like he is more popular than ever in the US.
Many have been celebrating the fact he received such a positive reception on Twitter, with one person writing: “Standing ovation for #PrinceHarry. I’m so glad he is free and far away from the toxicity of ‘The Crown’ long May he flourish.”
Another added: “I can’t even begin to put to words how happy I am to see Prince Harry get a standing ovation on his first public appearance since becoming a truer Global Citizen. For such an important cause too. #HarryandMeghan #GlobalCitizen #ServiceisUniversal.”
While a third penned: “This is what Prince without borders means. Harry got worldwide love without media, establishment, government asking us to love him or respect him. In fact the establishment, ukmedia etc has been telling us to hate him. This is what we choose to do. We love our global Prince Harry.”
