Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been branded ‘hypocrites’ over charging ‘crazy money’ for an Economic Insecurity summit in Manchester.
The three-day conference will see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attending the One Young World summit between 5-8 September 2022, with participants having to fork out £1,000 (approx $1,182) per day if they want to catch a glimpse of the couple.
One person wrote on Twitter: “If they truly wished to change the narrative or how others view them, to a more positive one, this isn’t the way to do it.

“Charging people is telling us more about who they really are and what they truly want to achieve.”
Another said: “No one turned up to their last debacle, at the UN, which was free, so no chance of a full house this time at that price.
“The wife could pay for the tickets I suppose and pass them around, exactly as she did with her failed book The Stench.”
A third added: “God, the kind of person you’re gonna find there would probably make my eyes and ears bleed.

“Sounds like a seriously miserable function, they’ll love it.”
Others had a different take, however.
“Well done them,” one wrote. “Making own way in the world with private enterprise without having to hang onto an ancient system of hierarchy which demands taxpayers look after them for life like Uncle Andrew.”
According to the summit organisers, Prince Harry and Markle will not be paid to appear.
Their website quotes the importance of availing scholarships as these ‘provide the opportunity for exceptional young people to attend on the merit of their proven leadership and ability to create change in their home country’.

Around 30 per cent of the attendees this year will be availing of the scholarship.
The Duke and Duchess have spoken of their happiness about being part of the three-day event.
Markle has said that her response to the proposal of being the Counsellor at One Young World was ‘a resounding yes’.
She added: “One Young World invites young adults from all over the world who are actively working to transform the socio-political landscape by being the greater good.”
