Rochelle Humes has caused upset over her recent vaccine comments.
The mum-of-three admitted she’s ‘conflicted’ about young people, especially her kids, being given the jab on yesterday’s episode of This Morning.
She said: “I don’t know. They are younger than 12, they are younger than the age range.
“They are my most precious things in the world… I don’t know the answer.
The former Saturdays singer appeared on the show alongside Dr Nighat, who argued that younger people should opt for the vaccine.
“You have to look at the vaccination programme that’s been rolled out across other countries,” the doctor explained. “We already have America, which has been vaccinating 12-year-olds and above, we have Germany, Italy, Spain, which have been vaccinating. In China, they’ve been vaccinating 12-year-olds and above and they’re finishing their programme in October this year. We’ve also got Canada and Brazil.”
She added: “So the vaccination programme that we’ve got currently will then be rendered null and void because if we’ve got more virulent, more stronger variants that are out there. That’s how viruses spread.”
After watching the segment, many people took to Twitter and shared their thoughts on the intense debate.
One person tweeted: “You don’t know Rochelle. I’d go with the scientists on this one – or the TV presenter? Gosh, it’s tricky.”
Another added: “Oh ffs Rochelle, what do you mean you don’t know? Even after a GP has just clearly pointed out the importance of vaccinating children. So, that’s two presenters now who are clearly anti-vax.”
However, some people were more understanding of Humes’ point of view.
“I’m with Rochelle, I’m not sure,” one parent mused. “My teenagers have had Covid (experiencing only mild symptoms) – I worry that if they have the vaccine they will have a more severe reaction than when they have Covid?”
