Ryan Reynolds is pushing for Marvel to make Deadpool openly bisexual.

Daniel Richtman, an entertainment reporter, alleges that Reynolds ‘very much wants’ to explore a new side to his character, after previously being heterosexual in the first two movies.

Although it’s not been reported if he’s managed to persuade film bosses yet, the 44-year-old previously had success with making Brianna Hildebrand’s character, Negasonic, a lesbian.

In Deadpool 2, Negasonic Teenage Warhead had a girlfriend called Yumiko. It marked the first-ever gay superhero relationship shown on the big screen.

Hildebrand opened up to Variety about the experience, explaining that she didn’t want the same-sex relationship to be made ‘a big deal’ by producers.

But it all came about because of Reynolds, who pushed for the inclusivity.

She told Playboy: “I was surprised when I was pitched it, but Ryan just sent me an email and was like, ‘how would you feel about this?’ and so that’s great-I’m glad he asked me how I would feel about it.

“Obviously, I was like, ‘I feel amazing about it. Let’s do it!’ I am glad that he asked me, though. I probably would have been like, ‘wow.'”

The Canadian actor has previously stated he thinks that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) should include more LGBTQIA+ characters.

At a 2018 Comic Con, he explained: “I certainly think that this universe…needs to represent and reflect the world in very real ways.

“The great thing about Deadpool is that we’re allowed to do things that other superhero movies don’t necessarily do.

“It’s something that I’d love to see more of, certainly through Wade, certainly through this universe because it’s something that we’re building out more.”
