Sam Smith fans have defended the singer as a cruel ‘stage dive’ video has gone viral.
The ‘Unholy’ singer, 31, has been subject to a wave of backlash this year.
From their ‘satanic’ performance at the Grammy Awards to the outfit they wore on the Brit Awards’ red carpet.
But fans have come out defending the ‘Vulgar’ artist following a clip surfing the internet.

In the video, a person baring a resemblance to the ‘Too Good At Goodbye’ singer is seen jumping off the stage and attempting a stage dive.
However, everyone moves out of the way and the person lands on the floor.
People on social media have been reacting to the footage and making cruel jokes.

One person says: “Please tell me this isn’t actually Sam Smith.”
Someone else adds: “Wait what!? That was Sam Smith!?”
A third person writes: There’s just no way that’s the same person that wrote and sang ‘Writings on the wall’.”
These people have been quickly corrected, as more context surrounding the footage has been revealed.
After the video surfaced on Twitter, the social media’s fact checker corrected the user and added context to the video.

It read: “This is not Sam Smith, as can be seen in this videos taken from a different angle.”
A link is also provided which takes you to a TikTok of what actually happened – which shows a dancer on stage at a Vanilla Ice concert dressed as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle jumping off the stage.
The rumours it was Smith has also been debunked by Newsweek.
Fans of the ‘Stay With Me’ singer have now hit back at those making remarks towards them.
“FACT CHECKED DUMBA**!!” pens one person.

“People are so gullible it’s not even funny,” mentions a third fan.
Another person adds: “Worrying how many people genuinely thought it was Sam Smith in that stage dive clip.”
