Shamima Begum’s interview with Good Morning Britain has sparked 273 complaints to Ofcom.

The 22-year-old ISIS bride spoke live from a refugee camp on the show last week and viewers were so unhappy that they complained to the regulatory body.

It comes as ex-host of the programme Piers Morgan hits out at the show for giving the ‘ISIS bride monster’ a right to free speech when it was denied to him.

Viewers of the programme took to Twitter to air their frustrations.

One person wrote: “This television interview with Shamima Begum is all types of questionable. Surely the UK, like other countries, could have come up with a better process than trial by ITV.”

Another added: “Wtf were ITV thinking with that Shamima Begum interview?”

“I’m highly offended that GMB has taken Piers Morgan off my screen and put Shamima Begum on it,” a third fumed.

In the interview, Begum pleaded for forgiveness and begged Prime Minister Boris Johnson to let her return to the UK.

She said: “I know it’s very hard for the British people to try and forgive me because they have lived in fear of ISIS and lost loved ones because of ISIS, but I also have lived in fear of ISIS and I also lost loved ones because of ISIS, so I can sympathise with them in that way.

“I know it is very hard for them to forgive me but I say from the bottom of my heart that I am so sorry if I ever offended anyone by coming here if I ever offended anyone by the things I said.”

According to Ofcom, ‘the number of complaints received is not an indication of how serious an issue is’ but  ‘all complaints are assessed against the Broadcasting Code’.
