A Squid Game fan’s theory about how players were selected to take part is going viral on TikTok.

Despite some accusing the series of plagiarism, it has received a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is the first-ever Korean programme to be number one on the streaming service in the US.

The drama follows contestants who are hard up for cash as they compete in children’s themed games of survival for a prize.

When players are invited to participate in the game, they are asked to pick a colour. They then wake up in the game.

Speaking about the character Seong Gi-hun, a woman, known as @lucy.what1, said on the platform: “Lol guys, I have another theory.

“He (the person inviting Seong to take part) asks him to choose a colour. He chooses blue and wakes up as a player.

“What if he had chosen red?”

This theory implies that all the ‘Workers,’ who control the games and kill players, are in fact people who were invited to play the game but chose a red card instead.

Following this logic, anyone who chose a blue card woke up as a player.

@lucy.what1it’s just my guess but i have checked, all the other players have also selected the color blue. ##fypシ ##viral ##squidgame ##squidgamenetflix♬ She Knows – J. Cole

Many followers agreed with the theory, with one commenting: “Omg that makes sense because the reds weren’t allowed to talk.”

Another added: “That makes sense because we can tell from the few scenes that the workers are just normal people too, probably in debt like the players.”

‘Squid Game’ Becomes One Of Netflix’s Most Popular Shows Ever

One did question the theory, writing: “But that means the people in red suits were also offered to play the games though?

“Why would they accept watching people die and not play the games?”
