A student who ‘struggles to tell left from right’ has decided to have it tattooed on her hands so that she always remembers.

D’Kodia Laine, from Canberra, decided to get the tattoo inked by tattoo artist Laura Winzer at Hunter & Fox, a studio that is renowned in Alexandria.

Opening up about the reaction she’s had from her family and friends, the 23-year-old told Daily Mail Australia: “I just got a lot of laughing back and [messages like] ‘Oh you were being serious!’.”

Her boyfriend, however, is ‘grateful’ for them!

She told the publication: “He’s grateful that now he won’t get secondhand embarrassment!”

Growing up, the student said she found it difficult to remember her left and right, and as she got older she began to receive criticism for her problem.

Her friends became frustrated when she took a ‘few wrong turns’ during a treasure hunt last year. It was then when one of them suggested drawing an ‘L’ and an ‘R’ on her hands.

Later on, she began joking about having it permanently tattooed. It seemed the perfect solution to her problem and this way she couldn’t forget.

Since being shared onto the tattoo artist’s Instagram account, the post has racked up 4,000 likes and many sent D’Kodia supporting messages.

The caption read: “Not only are tattoos cute, but they can also be super functional! Good luck with all your future directions, happy to help guide you.”

The problem resonated with others too, with one person commenting: “I love this! I definitely need to do this myself.”

Others agreed that this was something that they would benefit from too. While others applauded D’Kodia for her innovative idea.

The student has since said that she doesn’t feel ‘too dumb’ now for needing this little extra guidance.
