A teacher has gone viral after recording his Gen Z students answering simple history questions about figures and events completely wrong.
In the clip, his pupils can be heard confusing Helen Keller – an American disability rights advocate – with Adolf Hitler.
He captioned it: “As a history teacher, I’m concerned.”

At one point he asks a student: “Helen Keller is a Nazi terrorist, a male, is that what you’re telling me right now?
“Are you thinking of Hitler?”
A second student then pipes up and shouts: “Who’s Hitler?!”
Understandably, the teacher felt he had reached his limit and struggled to even come up with a reply.
A third student can then be heard saying: “Helen Keller was the blind and deaf person who was fake. She didn’t exist but everyone believes she was blind and deaf.”

Shortly after the clip was shared, ‘is Helen Keller real’ began trending on Twitter as people mocked their lack of knowledge about the historical figure.
However, some people jumped to the kids’ defence and questioned how they would possibly know who she is if they’ve never been taught about her.
One wrote: “Helen Keller is trending because people are upset that some kids of Gen Z don’t know her. Why the hell should they? Lmao. Like yes, it’s quite the feel-good story but instead of watering the curriculum down to that, educate them on something else.”
