Technical Fault Causes Kitchen Taps In Italian Village To Pump Out Wine Instead Of Water

Villagers in Lambrusco Grasparossa were shocked to discover wine pumping out of their taps instead of water due to a technical fault.

In what appears to be a freak occurrence, locals of a small Italian village were amazed when they switched on their taps to find pink wine pouring out.

On 4 March, a ‘technical fault’ at a local winery at nearby Settecani winery, which caused wine to pump out of peoples’ taps due to a plumbing error.

It was quickly realised that the wine was coming from a locally-brewed winery.

Overjoyed by the freak accident, locals were quick to start bottling up the ‘precious’ wine to enjoy on a later occasion.

According to Gazzetta di Modena, many have planned to enjoy the wine ‘later at a lunch or dinner along with other typical Modenese specialities’.

The Local, a news source based in Italy, stated that a defective silo was leaking the pink liquid into the local water supply, which then found its way in peoples’ homes. As wine as a higher pressure than water in pipes, it was quickly making its way through the plumbing system and therefore into homes of locals.

However, not everyone was happy about it and they expressed their concern on whether their water supply was actually safe.

The local council took to Facebook to make an official apology and technicians soon put everything back to normal.
