Tess Holliday, who recently revealed she’s ‘anorexic and in recovery‘, has claimed that she was body shamed in a doctor’s waiting room.
The American model took to Instagram on January 21 and explained what happened when she was ‘minding her own business’.
Recalling how a woman complimented her on her appearance, Holliday said: “She says, ‘You are so pretty. You have a beautiful face and you have beautiful hair’. And I mean, I look like this, and my face is covered, but I’m like, ‘Oh, thank you!’.”

The body activist went on to claim that this woman then began to interrogate her on why she wasn’t losing weight.
Apparently, the person asked: “Why don’t you just lose a little bit of weight?”
Holliday then told her followers that she’s ‘no stranger’ to people making harsh comments about her appearance, however, on this particular occasion, she was ‘tired’ and decided to retaliate.

Telling her followers what happened, the 36-year-old said: “I looked at her, took a breath and I said, and I still can’t believe I said this, look at me smiling, I’m so proud of myself, I looked at her and I said, ‘Ma’am, I am one of the most famous plus-size models in the world; I think I’m doing OK’.”
Hilariously, Holliday began laughing at the memory and admitted that she’s ‘proud’ of what she said in the moment.
“I’m proud of myself. I’m proud of myself for standing up for myself even though she will never get it and there was no reason for me to explain myself in that situation,” she explained. “But I’m f***ing proud of myself.”

Holliday’s followers took to the comments section of the post and praised the model for her response.
One wrote: “Wow! You’re absolutely beautiful sweetie and the way you are! Seriously beautiful inside out!”
Another added: “Good for you people should mind their own business, I am proud of you. You were much nicer than I think I would have been.”
“Well said, Tess. I love this because you responded with kind firmness and didn’t stink to a level that is beneath you,” a third penned. “I can’t imagine what you must have encountered by ‘well intentioned’ silliness. But showing up and setting boundaries, and doing so with poise and respect, good on you. So much respect.”
