‘The Beast,’ whose real name is Mark Labbett, is ‘gutted’ after being dropped from the US version of The Chase.

Taking to Twitter, the quizzer, who was recently blasted for a ‘creepy’ comment about Carol Vordernam, claimed he was offered ‘no reason’ for not being asked to return.

He said: “Gutted to not be invited back but really excited at the new lineup. Am expecting Brandon and Victoria to wow America.”

Labbett was then asked by a fan: “Was it because of contract reasons from The Chase Australia?”

He replied: “No they just didn’t renew me. No reason was offered.”

Fans weren’t impressed with the news and shared their disappointment on social media.

One commented: “Mark, I’m gutted as well! As are the majority of The Chase fans. To me you are, and always will be The Chase and ‘The Beast’. To top that off, a well-respected gentleman!”

Another added: “Hey @thechaseabc, the main reason I came back for S2 of your show was ‘The Beast’.

“Guess I’ll just stick to watching the faster pace UK Chase, Beat the Chasers, and GSN repeats instead.”

‘The Beast’ Sends Warning To ‘The Chase’ Viewers

“They used @MarkLabbett to get more viewers,” a third fumed. “After it worked, they dropped him. He was the only chaser on this version with a personality. My family and friends will not watch it without Mark.

“Back to @GSN reruns for us. @thechaseabc will be circling the drain soon.”

The news came after ABC announced the show would be returning with new quizmasters.

In a tweet, the channel said: “New season. New Chasers. Victoria Groce, Brandon Blackwell, and Buzzy Cohen join Brad Rutter and James Holzhauer on May 3 when #TheChase returns.”

Labbett first appeared on the US version of the show between 2013 and 2015, he joined the revival on ABC for its second season just last year.
