The Chase’s Anne Hegerty has hit out a troll for apparently fat-shaming ‘The Beast’ after he was blasted for his recent ‘creepy’ comment about Carol Vorderman.

The 63-year-old took to Twitter to defend her co-star, whose real name is Mark Labbett, after a person tweeted: “I admire your ego, but concerned about the degree of physical fitness.”

Firing back, she said: “Mark has lost a ton of weight and hits the gym.”

Agreeing with Hegerty, one person replied: “And he looks fab for it!”

“It really shows too,” added another.

A third said: “Yep. But none from his ego.”

The backlash all started when Labbett replied to a tweet that was looking for duos that have ‘a degree of physical fitness’ to ‘travel the globe’ as part of a new quiz show.

In response to the post, he said: “I feel that a pair of @anne_hegerty and myself could make the ultimate Hare and Tortoise contest. We just plod along remorselessly getting everything right.”

Recently, the 56-year-old was criticised for referring to Vorderman’s ‘assets’ when she appeared on Beat The Chaser.

After the show, he tweeted: “I don’t know what is more impressive about @carolvorders, her intellect or her more tangible assets #superstar #BeatTheChasers.”

Many fans reacted to the tweet by dubbing Labbett as ‘inappropriate,’ ‘creepy,’ and ‘sexist’.

However, Vorderman has defended the Chaser and said: “Well ‘The Beast’ and I are having a bit of a laugh over this as he is a good buddy of mine and we always take the mick out of each other.

“All hail ‘The Beast’ @MarkLabbett and thank you Bradders and the gang for such a great show.”
