The host said: “I can’t believe it! This is incredible, he’s 20 years old and just won £75,000.”

“It’s the single highest win in daytime history.” He took the prize money home after answering 19 questions correctly, beating the previous record held by a contestant Judith who won £70,000 in 2019.

When asked how he would spend his winnings, Eden said he would buy a car.

He told the host: “I suppose a car would be nice. But nothing snazzy. Just anything with four wheels.’”

The young contestant was then congratulated by Chaser Darragh.

He said: “You did very well, it was all about the pushbacks in the end.”

Fans took to Twitter to congratulate him on his history-making win, calling the moment ‘sensational’.

One person said: “One of the all-time great performances on The Chase from Eden. Sensational stuff.”

Another added: “The most incredible episode of The Chase I’ve ever seen. Eden’s a brilliant quizzer who I can quite honestly say I fancied even before he had £75,000 to his name.”

It comes after the programme was criticised by fans on Monday evening for asking a contestant who was blind ‘unfair’ questions.

Astrophysics student Josh, was asked about the colour of snooker balls, much to fans dismay, and missed out on a cash prize.
