This Morning viewers have been left divided by a woman who wants to ‘use her dead husband’s sperm for a baby’.

Jayde Payne claims that she and her spouse, Daniel, were planning to have a child through IVF before his death in 2019.

The couple originally decided to freeze his sperm when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, so they could have children in the future.

However, Payne was left devastated when her husband then unexpectedly passed away from a brain tumour.

Determined to carry on his memory, she sought to have IVF treatment but was informed that an ‘admin error’ had taken place which meant she didn’t have consent to use her deceased spouse’s sperm.

Payne is now facing the High Court in a bid to gain consent and have her late husband’s child.

However, her battle didn’t go well with some ITV viewers who argued it wasn’t the ‘right way’ to preserve his memory.

One commented: “It’s so sad when someone passes away, but to intentionally bring a life into the world when that person is gone, seems selfish to me.”

Another added: “Please woman, let this man rest in peace… He is dead, you need to move on!”

“Grief is awful but I’m afraid she’s not thinking of the effect on the child in all this,” a third wrote.

However, others defended Payne and said she deserved the right to be happy.

Sympathising, a viewer penned: “Aww such a sad story.”

A second commented: “I don’t know that I agree with what she wants to do… but wish her a speedy resolution as then she will know one way or the other whether this is allowed and if allowed whether it will work.”
