Thomas Markle has broken his silence on the arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan’s new baby, Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.

Meghan’s estranged dad has revealed that he’s ‘very pleased’ to hear his granddaughter arrived safely into the world.

He told The Sun: “I am very pleased that my daughter and my new granddaughter had a successful delivery. I wish them all my love and the best of luck.”

The retired lighting engineer hasn’t spoken to his daughter for three years.

At the beginning of the Duke and Duchess’ relationship, Thomas was rarely spotted in public and appeared to be purposely maintaining a position out of the spotlight.

However, he then allegedly agreed to pose for staged photos days before his daughter’s wedding in 2018 which resulted in a huge media storm.

Since then, the pair haven’t spoken and he didn’t end up attending the ceremony.

Before the allegations came out, the 76-year-old was planning on walking his daughter down the aisle. However, he had to pull out after suffering from a heart attack that required urgent surgery.

But his relationship with his daughter eventually became even more sour when Thomas alleged that he’d been ‘cut off’.

He then spoke publically about having an argument with Prince Harry over the phone.

Thomas hasn’t met his son-in-law or his grandson, Archie, and royal biographer Robert Jobson believes it’s unlikely he’s going to meet his new granddaughter anytime soon either.

He told the Daily Mail: “As it stands, it seems unlikely that either grandfather will meet their new granddaughter for some time.

“Thomas is not the only one facing problems with Harry and Meghan.”
