Tim Allen has made his feelings clear about the new Lightyear movie.
The actor, who voiced the original Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story franchise, said the film has ‘no relationship’ to the original character and is ‘not a big adventure story’.
In an interview with Extra, Allen explained: “I’ve stayed out of this.

“We talked about this many years ago… but the brass that did the first four movies is not this. It’s a whole new team that really had nothing to do with the first movie.”
The 69-year-old went on to say that he was surprised by the movie, as he had presumed it would be ‘real humans, not an animated thing’.
He continued: “There’s really no Toy Story Buzz without Woody.
“I’m not sure what the idea – I’m a plot guy. It would seem to be a big adventure story, and as I see, it’s not a big adventure story. It’s a wonderful story, it just doesn’t seem to have any connection to the toy. It has no relationship to Buzz.”
After learning that Allen wouldn’t be voicing the character, actress Patricia Heaton took to Twitter and said a ‘huge mistake’ had been made.
The Everybody Loves Raymond star penned: “Saw the trailer for Lightyear and all I can say is Disney/Pixar made a HUGE mistake in not casting my pal @ofctimallen.”
She added: “Tim Allen in the role that he originated, the role that he owns. Tim IS Buzz! Why would they completely castrate this iconic, beloved character?”
When people took to the post and pointed out that it’s a different Buzz Lightyear, Heaton continued: “Okay, so the current Buzz Lightyear movie is an origin story – but the reason the character became so beloved is because of what Tim Allen created.
“Why remove the one element that makes us want to see it? #stupidhollywooddecisions.”
