Michelle Keegan and Tom Daley left BAFTAs viewers ‘cringing’ with their ‘awkward’ joke on stage that failed to land with the star-studded audience.
The actress and Olympic diver were presenting an award at the ceremony when Keegan referenced Daley’s love of knitting.
She said: “I’m a little bit disappointed tonight, you’re not wearing one bit of knit. I know you’re an Olympic champion but we love the knit.”

In response, Daley said: “Well how do you know I’ve not got my knit knickers on?” while tugging at his trousers.
The actress replied: “Aah okay, there we go! So we now know.”
After failing to draw a laugh from the crowd, the diver continued: “I can teach you to make them if you like.”
Over on Twitter, viewers were quick to blast the ‘awkward’ exchange as being like a ‘lead balloon’.
One penned: “An evening of lead balloons but none heavier than that Tom Daley and Michelle Keegan’s exchange.”
“Oooh nobody laughed at Tom Daley‘s joke to Michelle Keegan. Cringe,” another added.
Pitching in, a third added: “Michelle Keegan and Tom Daley? Dishwater meets the end of the loaf, bland and bland!”
However, others took the opportunity to say how good the duo looked, with one writing: “Wow, Michelle Keegan and Tom Daley look SO GOOD. HOLY F***.”
A second remarked: “Tom Daley and Michelle Keegan hello, I love you both.”
