Tom Hanks’ son, Chet, has faced a backlash after saying he ‘didn’t have a strong male role model‘ growing up as a celebrity kid.
The 31-year-old made the comment on his YouTube channel earlier this month, and now people are branding him ‘spoilt’.
“Top actors are gone from their families a lot, but so are many workers,” one wrote. “What about the crew for movies or the corporation workers who do business overseas? And don’t forget the nurses and doctors during Covid. Maybe he wasn’t taught that life is hard sometimes.”

“This guy is always looking for attention,” said another. “It is very weird.”
A third pitched in, commenting: “He was perceived, he said, as ‘arrogant, entitled and spoiled’ by his peers and ‘didn’t have a strong male role model’ to impress upon him that ‘they are just jealous of you’. If this doesn’t sound ‘entitled, spoiled, and arrogant,’ I don’t know what does.”
“I bet you weren’t saying that when you were getting everything you ask for, just saying,” a fourth penned.

However, others took to social media and defended the actor’s son, arguing that the world of showbiz is ‘evil’.
“It’s what happens in the entertainment industry,” one tweeted. “No one realizes how much of that industry takes out of a person’s family life. I was raised by a father in the biz, he was basically an absentee parent even though he was working all the time. It’s an evil business.”
After making his original comment, Hanks did acknowledge his privileged life, saying: “I got to travel the world, stay in nice hotels, fly on private planes, and I’m very blessed for that. I wouldn’t change my situation.”
