Tom Holland Slams ‘Ridiculous’ Height Standards In Relationships

Tom Holland, who is 5ft 8in, has slammed ‘ridiculous’ height standards in relationships.

The actor, and his co-star/partner, Zendaya, appeared on SiriusXM Town Hall and ended up chatting about tall women dating shorter men.

Looking at his girlfriend, who is 5ft 10in, Holland said: “It’s not like, people say like, ‘How did you guys kiss? It must have been so difficult’.”

SiriusXm’s host, Jessica Shaw, agreed with the Spider-Man star and said these ‘misogynistic’ views of height could be ‘problematic’.

At this point, Zendaya jumped in and said she believed it was a ‘screwed up’ way to think.

Commenting on her height different with Holland, she added: “Yeah, this is normal too.”

The Euphoria star explained: “My mum is taller than my dad. My mum is taller than everyone.”

In agreement, Holland said: “No, not at all. It’s ridiculous.”

Recalling his audition to play Spider-Man, the 25-year-old said: “I remember when we were doing the Spider-Man screen tests, I mean – you’d have to ask Jon Watts this question – but every girl that we tested for both roles was taller than me.

“And I wonder whether Jon, that was a decision that Jon had made. There was, there was no one that tested that was shorter than I was. To be fair – I am quite short.

“But, uh, but yeah, so maybe that was a decision Jon Watts made and something he was aware of and wanted to break the stereotype. I think it’s great.”

Pitching in, Zendaya mused: “I honestly never thought of it as a thing. Because my parents were always that way.

“So I, I didn’t know that people cared until life, you know, but before that I had, no, I have no construct of it.”

Holland and Zendaya have never publically spoken about their relationship. However, they were reportedly photographed kissing back in July.
