Transgender Beauty Queen ‘Murdered By Husband In Jealous Fit Of Rage’

A transgendered beauty queen has allegedly been murdered by her husband who was believed to be in a jealous fit of rage, authorities say.

Yunieski Carey Herrera, a well-known member of Miami’s LGBTQ scene, has allegedly been murdered by her husband, Ygor Arrudasouza, 27, who is believed to have confessed to police.

On Tuesday, Arrudasouza revealed to the authorities that he had been on meth when he decided to take a knife and fork to repeatedly stab his wife in their 19th-floor condo, according to WPLG, which cited a police report.

Arrudasouza said that he had been arguing with Herrera and erupted in a fit of rage when she said: “she had a better man”. This prompted him to stab her on their bed and then on the floor, the report states.

The 39-year-old beauty queen had also been a Cuban salsa dancer who had competed in pageants over the years. She was beloved by the LGBTQ community in South Florida.

Rail Griffith, Herrera’s friend, told WPLG: “Besides being strikingly beautiful, she was kind and she was good and she cared as much about others as she would about herself.

“She was a very special person for many people.”

On Facebook, her aunt has written: “My heart is heavy, I love you my beautiful niece. Rest in heaven and continue to soar with your beautiful soul!

“We love you and we will miss your feisty, blunt, very matter-of-fact attitude. Thanks for your love, your talents, your team spirit, and your love for people.”

According to the Human Rights Campaign, Herrera is believed to be the 37th transgender woman to have died from violence in the US this year.

Arrudasouza will be facing a second-degree murder charge in Herrera’s death. As of Wednesday, he has been held without bond.

In other news, a woman who was initially thought to have committed suicide was allegedly beaten to death and thrown out of a sixth-floor apartment by her jealous boyfriend.
