The ‘bizarre’ reason Donald Trump has refused to go vegan has been revealed.

The former president’s press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, has claimed in her new tell-all book, ‘I’ll Take Your Questions Now: My Time in the Trump White House,’ that she asked the 75-year-old if he would switch his diet for just one month.

However, he reportedly refused the idea, as he was concerned about the impact it would have on his brain function.

According to Politico, Grisham wrote: “I knew he loved his steaks and cheeseburgers, but one month didn’t seem that long.”

She claimed that she ‘playfully’ asked the question, but Trump responded: “No, no. It messes with your body chemistry, your brain.

“And if I lose even one brain cell, we’re f***ed.”

Apparently, the request was made in response to a challenge Trump had been set on behalf of a young boy.

The child reportedly made the appeal on behalf of a charity that would offer a donation of $1million to veterans if Trump agreed to go vegan for just one month.

Grisham spent nine months as the White House press secretary from July 2019- April 2020 and during this time she famously never held any official briefings.

In total, she spent five years working for the ex-president and his wife, Melania Trump, in several different roles.

In response to the book, Trump’s spokeswoman, Liz Harrington, said: “This book is another pitiful attempt to cash in on the president’s strength and sell lies about the Trump family.”

Melania Trump’s office also provided a statement to The Washington Post, in which Grisham was labelled ‘unprofessional’.

It read: “The intent behind this book is obvious. It is an attempt to redeem herself after a poor performance as press secretary, failed personal relationships, and unprofessional behaviour in the White House.

“Through mistruth and betrayal, she seeks to gain relevance and money at the expense of Mrs Trump.”
