TV host Matt Doran has broken his silence after he was accused of ‘offending’ Adele while interviewing her on behalf of Australia’s Channel 7.
The journalist has claimed he’s ‘mortified’ about the fact he failed to listen to her new album, ’30,’ ahead of the exclusive interview and insisted he was ‘totally unaware’ that he had been emailed it prior.
Opening up about what happened, he told The Australian: “When I sat down to interview Adele, I was totally unaware that I’d been emailed a preview of her unreleased album.

“I have since discovered it was sent to me as an ‘e card’ link, which I somehow missed upon landing in London. It was an oversight but not a deliberate snub.”
Rumours are circulating that he has been ‘suspended’ from his role. However, it’s unclear if this is true.
He is now receiving a backlash on social media for ‘forgetting the basics’ of his own job.
“I’m sure Adele has better things to do than endless interviews. The least he could do was come prepared,” wrote one person.
“You had one job,” fumed another.
A third said: “Yep. As a former music journo (and as many other music journos can attest) this is really basic Interview 101 stuff. It can change the framing and context of the i/v and is really just a common courtesy you afford to everyone, from DIY indie acts to the biggest rock/pop stars.”
A fourth added: “I would have sacked him. Had a long flight over to listen to it. Lack of preparation equals arrogance.”
However, others saw the funny side and said they found the whole thing ‘relatable’.
“So relatable who hasn’t tried to lie their way through an interview,” wrote one person.
Another added: “I did a few interviews with bands whose albums I didn’t listen to and just kind of guessed my way through. Fun, but not my finest work.”
