The footage comes as a Russian soldier’s final text message to his mother has been disclosed.

The Ukrainian ambassador to the United Nations, Sergiy Kyslytsya, read the conversation out at a press conference, revealing that the soldier felt ‘afraid’.

Firstly, the mother wrote to her son: “Why has it been so long since you responded? Are you really in training exercises?”

The soldier responded: “Mum, I’m no longer in Crimea. I’m not in training sessions.”

She then asked where he was, to which he replied: “Mum, I am in Ukraine, there is a real war raging here.

“I’m afraid. We are bombing all of the cities… even targeting civilians. We were told that they would welcome us. And they are falling under our armoured vehicles.”
