Heartbroken Mum Breaks Down Into Tears After Friend Requests Back The Blanket She Buried Dead Baby In

An already heartbroken mum has broken down into further tears after her friend allegedly asked her to returns the gifts she’d purchased for her baby who devastatingly passed away.

A woman was left speechless when her so-called friend messaged her after the death of her baby, as she wanted the items she’d gifted to be returned. This was despite the fact the grieving mum had buried the baby with the blanket she’d bought her.

According to Kidspot, the woman claims that her friend bought her son a soft fleece blanket, a singing toy, some clothes, booties and a cuddly elephant for when he was born.

The mum shared the story onto Reddit, where she explained how tragically, her son had been born at 29 weeks and didn’t survive.

The Reddit post, which has now been removed, showed screenshots of the conversation over Facebook messenger that took place between the woman and her friend.

The woman claims that the friend asked for the items to be returned just a week after her son had passed away. Shockingly, she asked that if the baby, who was named Benjamin, hadn’t touched or used any of the gifts, then could she have them back.

She continued by adding that if he hadn’t, she’d want them back so that she could give them to someone else – as she wanted to save cash over the festive period.

The mum listed what her friend had supposedly bought and then stated: “I didn’t ask for these things, as I said they were gifts.”

Based on the screenshots, it appears as though the woman reached out to her grieving friend and said: “Hey, hun just wondering if u used the bits n bobs I got for the baby?”

And continued: “If not I can give them to Laura’s little one. Hope your ok and resting up hun?”

The heartbroken mum didn’t even get a chance to answer before the friend added: “Let me know hun before I buy more stuff, save a bit of money before Xmas, you know how it is.”

The woman was evidently shocked by her friend’s message and responded: “I’m not doing OK, I’m heartbroken.”

She continued: “I can’t believe you’re asking me at the moment, but yes I still have the things except for the blanket, he will be buried with it because it is warm and I thought it was stunning. I mean… I hope that’s OK for you?!?”

Astoundingly, the friend continued to push for a response on the gifts, she explained she “needed to know before I spend anymore”.

She then said: “Is there a chance you have another blanky for him babe?”

The woman then sent a paragraph of support and said that she’d be there for her grieving friend. Yet still, she persisted with receiving back the gifts and wanting the blanket back.

The friend popped up saying: “What if I popped round tomorrow? I can pick it up then babe.”

Infuriated, the woman replied: “No! Don’t come here, please. The blanket is in with Benjamin!

“You can have the rest [of the things] I’ll drop them off at yours, don’t even think of coming here. My husband is fuming with these messages you are sending me a week after I lose my baby.

“They’re packed in a bag… I’ll leave them at yours. The blanket is with Benjamin he is having ‘use’ out of it thank you very much.”

Making the situation even worse, the woman responded by saying that if she couldn’t have the blanket back, she’d like her to cover the costs of it!

As I’m sure you can imagine, people couldn’t believe the friend’s cold attitude.

One person wrote: “I hope the woman blocks her out of her life entirely. Wow… what a garbage human.”

Another added: “Imagine harassing a grieving mother over stuff that amounts to pocket change.”
