Teaser Trailer For The Batman Is Here

Director Matt Reeves shared the first teaser trailer of The Batman over the weekend at the DC Fandome.

It really has been an incredibly exciting few days for DC fans. Over the weekend, thousands of excited moviegoers logged into this year’s virtual DC Fandome and it’s safe to say, it didn’t disappoint.

The 2021 release schedule for movies means that next year is already shaping up to be an incredibly exciting year for cinema, given that plenty of films that were expected to be released this year have had to be delayed or pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but even before all of that, 2021 was always going to be a huge year for the DCEU.

Why? Well, a plethora of DC films, including Matt Reeve’s The Batman with a brand a new Bruce Wayne in the form Robert Pattinson, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, and James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, which were both already scheduled to be released in 2021 and over the weekend, DC and Warner Bros released trailers and exciting first looks behind the scenes of their upcoming films.

By far the most talked-about part of the DC Fandome was the release of the first teaser trailer of The Batman, where we got to see Pattinson’s Dark Knight for the first time and judging by the early reactions, The Batman might not just be one of the biggest films of 2021, but in the whole of the DCEU. In Reeves’ gritty, gothic and dark Gotham, we get to see our first glimpse of Pattinson’s brutal Batman, as well as the eery first looks at Paul Dano’s Riddler and Colin Farrell’s Penguin.

Check out the first trailer below.

How thrilling does it look? And yes, that really is Colin Farrell!

The Batman aside, there was also plenty of exciting news on the other end of the Gotham spectrum. DC released a behind the scenes look at James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, starring Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Peter Capaldi, Pete Davidson and Taika Waititi.

The Sucide Squad is being described as a stand-alone sequel and a “soft reboot” of 2016’s disappointing Suicide Squad and judging by the first sneak peek Gunn is not holding back, even claiming that one member of the cast is the “best actor I’ve worked with”, which might be a not so sly dig at Marvel after the studio sacked him in 2018.

And to cap off an already exciting list of new releases, DC has revealed the new trailers for both Wonder Woman 1984 and Black Adam, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. For many months, fans have been excited to see what Black Adam could look like and, although there was no live-action footage of the Shazam! spin-off, DC did release a concept art teaser narrated by Johnson, of what we can expect. And it’s safe to say, it hasn’t disappointed.

Wonder Woman 1984, starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and Kirsten Wiig, will be released in October and will kick off a very exciting run of releases for DC and Warner Bros. If everything goes well, then 2021 could be a huge year the DCEU. After many years in Marvel’s shadow, it looks as though the news coming out of the DC Fandome over the weekend, could be a game-changing moment for the DCEU.
