A vegan diner received an ‘insulting’ note off a waiter when they asked what the meat-free alternatives were.
Lisa Cooney claims that the incident took place on May 30 when she visited the Ravelston House in Scotland.
She told Edinburgh Live: “I dined today for lunch with the family who are visiting for the weekend.

“I asked what options were vegan and the barman said he would ask the chef, he came back with the menu which had the items circled and he put the note on the bar.
“It fell from the bar and my dad picked it up and showed it to me.”
It read: “The vegan s*** has been circled.”
After reading the passive-aggressive note, Lisa was left feeling outraged.
She continued: “When I first read it I was in disbelief, then I was angry and upset, it’s insulting and so unprofessional, also the total disregard for any potential allergy is a worry.
“For a chef to have that mentality is quite shocking.”
Cooney received an apology at the end of the visit when she complained to the restaurant’s manager.
“I went and spoke to the manager after my family had finished their meal, he apologised and agreed the note wasn’t acceptable,” she added.
Cooney isn’t the only vegan to have had a terrible dining experience because of her diet preferences.
Another mum was left horrified when she chose a meal from the plant-based menu at Center Parcs.
She claims she left the restaurant feeling ‘starving’ because there was barely any food on her plate when the meal came.
She said: “I was really quite shocked. I looked at it and thought, I’ve paid ten pounds for this. And we were starving afterwards.”
