Vernon Kay ‘Signs £250k I’m A Celebrity Deal’ As Rhian Sugden Scandal Has Resurfaced

TV presenter and star Vernon Kay has reportedly signed a whopping £250,000 deal to appear as a contestant on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! later on this year. This has come not long after Rhian Sugden has once again spoken out about their texting scandal which took place in 2010.

Vernon Kay is rumoured to have signed a whopping £250,000 deal to appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! this year.

The 46-year-old, who is married to Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly, has reportedly been approached several times in the past yet has always declined. This time, it appears that ITV bosses may have finally managed to persuade him to sign up.

The producers are reportedly “thrilled” at the thought of snapping up the TV personality for an eye-watering quarter of a million pounds.

The rumours have emerged not long after Page 3 model Rhian Sugden spoke out about their texting scandal again when she starred on Channel 4 documentary Page Three: The Naked Truth and said the incident “ruined her career”.

In 2010, the lingerie model exchanged a series of flirty text messages with Vernon Kay. In the documentary she appeared in last month, she stated she wishes she had “never met” him.

In the aftermath of the scandal, as both had been in separate relationships, Rhian claims that thinking about it made her feel “sick”.

She said: “He just got away with it. It ruined everything for me. I felt like I was going up and up with my career and then that came along. I wish I’d never met him.

“He got to give an apology on the radio and just got to carry on, with Family Fortunes, ironically. It still makes me feel sick.”

Referring to Vernon’s stint on I’m A Celeb, an insider told Mirror Online: “Everyone’s so pleased to have Vernon on board, he’s a lovely guy, full of down-to-earth northern charm and perfect for the show.”

Since the show’s inception back in 2002, it has been aired in Australia but following the coronavirus pandemic, producers are assessing whether or not the next edition should be filmed in Scotland instead.

A representative of the show commented: “Having I’m a Celebrity for three weeks in November is seen as a huge priority. Everyone hopes to get back to Australia but over there they are struggling massively with flare-ups resulting in second lock-downs.

“It simply may not be possible because of safety. A decision needs to be made next month – in the meantime, the team is looking at stately homes, castles, mansions in remote areas of Scotland and England to see if we could stage it here.”
