Belgium Hit Back At Trump With Savage Two-Word Message After World Cup Win
The Belgium soccer team have hit back at Donald Trump with a savage two-word message, after knocking the United States out of the World Cup.
Belgium beat the host nation with a final score of 4-1 in yesterday’s match (July 6) at Lumen Field in Seattle.
However, the build up to the round of 16 game represented far more than just soccer, after Trump’s alleged involvement in suspending a one-match ban for striker Folarin Balogun, who was sent off during the USA’s win against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Fortunately for Belgium, they were able to use the controversy as ‘fuel’ to aid their win, according to midfielder Nicolas Raskin.
“A lot has happened off the pitch over the last two days,” he said. “There was a sense of injustice within the squad, and we were determined to respond on the field.”
Belgium captain Youri Tielemans added: “We told ourselves we had to respond on the pitch. That’s what we did.”
Why Folarin Balogun’s ban was suspended
The injustice the Belgians were referring to was the fact that FIFA decided to suspend Folarin Balogun’s one-match ban for 12 months, in a move that has been heavily criticized by fans, UEFA and many team managers, including England’s Thomas Tuchel.
FIFA said it was suspending the punishment under Article 27 of its Disciplinary Code, which allows disciplinary sanctions to be deferred in exceptional circumstances.
This is an incredibly rare move, which many now believe was made following pressure by Trump, who admitted he asked FIFA to overturn the ban.
“I think it [the suspension] would have left a big stain,” Trump said on the matter.
“I can’t tell them what to do. I don’t believe they made the decision; I believe it was the commission that made the decision. And it was the right decision.”
In response to the suspension, Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) said it was ‘astonished’ by the decision, telling the United States Soccer Federation it ‘contests the eligibility’ of Balogun being allowed to play.
However, FIFA said Belgium weren’t an interested party and therefore couldn’t appeal the decision despite being the team who would be facing the USA in their next match.

Belgium’s savage response to Trump
Ultimately, it didn’t matter too much that Balogun was allowed to start in the round of 16 match, as Belgium took the win with 4 goals to 1.
Belgium’s head coach Rudi Garcia revealed that Balogun had approached him after the match to talk.
“I really liked that. It’s not his fault, he’s not the one to blame and that’s what I told him,” he said.
Speaking about his team’s performance, he added: “Regardless of the US starting line-up, what really mattered to us is our game plan.
“The group is very mature. I told them what matters the most is us.”
After the fourth goal went in, several players were spotted doing an impression of what is known as the ‘Trump dance,’ which went viral during the 2024 US presidential campaign.
The dance involves rocking your hips and pumping your arms at the same time, but the savagery didn’t end there.
Belgium’s official Instagram account shared a picture of striker Romelu Lukaku cupping his ear, with the caption ‘overturn this.’
“The sass from the social media manager deserves praise,” one person commented, while another added: “Triumph > Trump.”
Another joked: “Thank you. I’m Brazilian and I forgive you now for what you have done to us in 2018,” after they famously knocked out the South American team 2-1 in the semi-finals.
A fourth wrote: “Belgium did not just win a match; it proved that courage is greater than any form of power, that merit is more lasting than any influence, and that justice, even when it arrives late, will always find its way in the end.
“Belgium’s victory was not merely a result in football history. It was a reminder that a team playing with heart, pride, unity, and true merit will ultimately overcome every shadow of injustice.”
