Dad Kicked Out Of Delivery Room For Making ‘Sick Joke’ While Wife Gives Birth
A dad was kicked out of the delivery room for making a ‘sick joke’ while his partner was giving birth.
A recent Reddit post has sparked widespread outrage after a new father made an ill-timed and deeply insensitive joke while his partner was in labor.
The mom, who had just delivered their first child, took to the subreddit r/AmITheA**hole to share her upsetting experience and to ask whether she had overreacted by asking her husband to leave the delivery room.
The overwhelming consensus: she was absolutely justified.
The Reddit community overwhelmingly supported the mother, slamming the husband for his demeaning behavior.
One user wrote: “The delivery room is not the time for jokes at the laboring woman’s expense.”
Another added: “Pregnancy is hard, and any man who can’t give his wife the respect she deserves shouldn’t be in the delivery room.”
A third said: “Immediate divorce. This is not okay.”
Others expressed disbelief at the husband’s lack of empathy.
“He said what now?” one commenter exclaimed, comparing the mother’s labor to the father’s much smaller role: “You just birthed a human! He had an org**m and held your hand. In no way are those comparable efforts.”
In the new mom’s post, she recounted how things had started off smoothly.
“I was in a lot of pain, but he was really supportive,” she wrote, noting that the midwife was doing her best to distract her with light conversation during the contractions.
However, the mood took a sharp turn when the midwife asked whether the couple was excited for the pregnancy to be over.
The mom responded honestly, saying that she was looking forward to the end of her difficult pregnancy.
That’s when her husband made the comment that would change everything.
“He snorted and said, ‘Or me too, she was so difficult,’” she wrote. The midwife quickly tried to redirect the conversation, but the damage had already been done.
When the mom challenged him on what he meant, he replied that he was glad it was over and that he would finally get his wife back now that ‘the hormonal mess is over.’
Feeling deeply hurt and humiliated, she demanded that he leave the room.
His reaction only added fuel to the fire.
According to the mom: “He said he’s not going anywhere, because his child is being born here. I yelled at him to get the f*** out and he was p***ed off, called me an AH for making him miss his kid’s birth and stormed off.”
