Freshly Cut Meat Video Is Making People Want To Turn Vegan
A video of fresh meat is going viral on social media, leaving people disgusted and vowing to turn vegan.
One horrified commenter wrote: “The least appetizing thing I’ve ever seen.”
Another joked: “No longer using recipes I find in the Necronomicon,” referencing the infamous flesh-bound book from the Evil Dead horror series.
While a more serious response came from a user who vowed: “I ain’t eating meat again.”
Another similarly commented: “I’m done eating meat.”
While someone else questioned: “Why is it moving like that?!”

The footage, which recently resurfaced on social media, shows a freshly cut piece of beef seemingly ‘twerking’ as it spasms in response to being salted.
Originally making waves on X (formerly Twitter) in 2020, the clip has once again captured public attention, amassing over 121,000 views and reigniting debates on meat consumption.
The unsettling video, shared by the account ‘Weird and Terrifying,’ features an unnamed butcher holding up a raw slab of beef.
As salt is sprinkled onto it, the meat begins to twitch and convulse, appearing to move independently.
According to Scientific American, this eerie phenomenon occurs because sodium ions activate the nerve endings in freshly cut meat, triggering muscle contractions.
Chinese meat inspector Lv Suwen further explained the science behind it in a 2015 article, stating: “The central nervous system is dead but the nerve-endings in the muscles are still firing, resulting in the jumping, because the nerves are not yet dead. This will stop after a short time.”
Although this reaction may seem off-putting, experts claim it’s actually a sign of freshness.
“You can rest assured, this piece of meat is very fresh and is from a freshly slaughtered animal,” Suwen noted.
However, this scientific explanation has done little to quell the disgust expressed by online users.

Many viewers have been left repulsed by the sight of the twitching beef, with some declaring they’ll give up meat altogether.
This isn’t the first time videos of meat seemingly coming to life have surfaced online.
In a similar 2019 clip shared by the New York Post, a piece of raw chicken sashimi appeared to wriggle and even crawl off a restaurant table, evoking comparisons to the parasitic creatures from the Alien films.
As these unsettling videos continue to circulate, it’s clear they are influencing people’s dietary habits, with some reconsidering their consumption of animal products altogether.
