A couple who won a multimillion-dollar home claim their dream win has become a ‘nightmare.’

Kevin and Andrea Griffin, from Australia, became the owners of a stunning $4.2 million property in Gisborne after a lottery company entered it as the star prize.

At first, it appeared their wildest dreams were coming true.

Yet this abruptly ended when the couple arrived at their new home and made a shocking find – as Andrea recalled to the Herald Sun: “We were just like, what the hell?”

Since their story has gone viral, many people have taken to social media and slammed the Griffin family as ‘ungrateful.’

One person wrote: “They seem pretty ungrateful to me.”

Another added: “People be complaining about having a house – what I wouldn’t give in this world to have a home of my own.”

“Honestly, these people have to be the most ungrateful people I have ever heard of,” somebody else commented.

The Gisborne property’s previous owner was Adrian ‘Lambo Guy’ Portelli, a property investor known for his lavish lifestyle and flashy cars.

He reportedly purchased the home, northwest of Melbourne, after it passed at auction on the reality TV series The Block.

Portelli put the property up as the star prize through his lottery company LMCT+, which the Griffin family then won.

In the lottery’s promotional videos of the home, the couple reportedly saw items such as a robo-mower, treadmill, Smeg appliances, and a BBQ smoker.

But when they entered the house, they found it was stripped of such items.

The Griffin family was under the impression they were entitled to everything they’d seen in the promo videos.

But Portelli claims the items in the video were just for staging and not part of the giveaway, as stated in the lottery’s terms and conditions.

According to MailOnline, the situation escalated when Andrea and Kevin found footage of Portelli removing the missing items from the property.

They hit Portelli with a $102,000 bill, listing the items they claim are missing from their new house.

Portelli also shared ‘behind the scenes footage’ of the couple touring the home, in which they appear to find faults.

The Griffin family has defended their stance after being vilified on social media.

Andrea told Daily Mail Australia: “We are anything but ungrateful and we’ve said that all along. We even pull up at the gate now and look up and go, ‘Wow, that’s our house.’ Like, we own that house. We are just so thankful that the dice rolled our way.”

She also claims the home requires costly fixes due to numerous defects, adding: “It’s just been an absolute nightmare.”

Portelli told Daily Mail Australia the issues raised by Andrea and Kevin would be resolved through ‘appropriate legal channels.’

He stated: “The terms and conditions governing each competition hosted on our client’s website are clearly displayed for all participants, ensuring transparency and a mutual understanding of the rules and expectations involved.

“Furniture is clearly not included.”

Andrea and Kevin are reportedly in contact with builders from The Block and hope urgent repairs can be made to their dream home.
