The internet has been left baffled by an optical illusion showing a horse seemingly walking in two different directions.

The footage, which shows a dark-colored horse moving across a snow-covered landscape, has become a viral topic on social media.

The stark contrast between the horse’s dark coat and the bright white snow creates a visual effect that makes it challenging to determine the direction of travel.

Online commenters have shared varying interpretations of what they’re seeing.

One viewer wrote: “Took me a minute to see it walking towards, but it’s walking away for sure.”

Another simply stated: “That horse is walking towards where it wants to go!”

The confusion becomes evident in comments like: “Of course it’s walking toward, what a dumb question. Video restarts… oh.”

Some found repeated viewing made the illusion stronger rather than clearer.

As one person noted: “The more times I watched the video, the less I could tell what direction it was walking.”

Another added: “This was good. I was sure it was away. Then it looped and I immediately was no longer sure lol.”

However, some viewers focused on specific visual cues to solve the puzzle.

One confident commenter pointed to ‘the snow prints it leaves’ as evidence for their conclusion about the horse’s direction.

The person who recorded the video has since clarified the correct answer to resolve the debate.

Alesia Willard, who filmed her horse Rudnik in snowy conditions, explained that she originally intended to capture the visual contrast between the animal’s dark coat and the white snow.

As Willard explained to Newsweek: “I also realized that because he was so dark, it was hard to tell if he was coming or going in certain angles.”

According to Willard, the horse is actually walking away from the camera, settling the online debate that had captivated so many viewers.
