Supermarket Chain Slammed For ‘Unacceptable’ Cakes: ‘This Is A Mockery’
A supermarket is being slammed for selling ‘unacceptable’ cakes to celebrate Juneteenth.
A Kroger grocery store in Atlanta, Georgia, is facing backlash online after a TikTok video highlighted what many are calling ‘disrespectful’ cakes.
The now-viral video shows a selection of poorly decorated cookie cakes in the store’s bakery section.
In contrast to the aesthetically pleasing birthday cakes nearby, these Juneteenth designs appear hastily made, with sloppily written phrases like ‘FREE,’ ‘June 19 Free,’ ‘Congratulations,’ and ‘Free @ Last.’

“This is some bulls**t,” the TikTok creator exclaims in the video, which has amassed over 10 million views. “Who the hell made this ugly-ass s***?”
She continues: “This is unacceptable,” expressing her frustration over what she sees as a lack of care and creativity for a holiday of such significance.
Juneteenth, celebrated annually on June 19, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States.
Officially recognized as a federal holiday, it holds deep cultural and historical importance.
Many viewers felt that Kroger’s cake designs trivialized this meaning.
As the TikToker pointed out: “Y’all decorate everything else around here cute… but for Juneteenth, you wanna just throw something on a freaking cookie cake and expect someone to buy it.”

The comment section of the video echoed her outrage.
One viewer said: “‘Free @ last’ is diabolical,” while another sarcastically remarked: “Not the last one saying Congratulations. Like, ‘Congratulations, you’re free!’”
Others were incredulous that such products even made it to the shelves.
“I thought this was a joke until you showed the store,” one user wrote.
In response to the criticism, Kroger issued a statement to Newsweek, saying: “The cakes and cookies that were featured in the video were inconsistent with our provided guidance and not of the quality we would expect to see from our stores.”
The company confirmed the products had been removed and said it had addressed the matter with the store’s team and the customer who originally posted the video.
In a follow-up video, the TikToker returned to the Kroger location and confirmed the Juneteenth cakes had indeed been taken down.
However, she noted her continued disappointment, stating: “I still feel some type of way that they didn’t replace them with better Juneteenth cakes.”
@blaq.monalisa Kroger count your days. Why even bother if you’re going to lack creativity. This is Kroger on Howell mill rd, Atlanta Ga. This is a mockery! Am I tripping, someone let me know!
