Man ‘Spooked For Days’ After Finding Note Attached To Door With Chilling 1980s Secret
A man has revealed how a surprise handwritten note left on his front door had him feeling ‘spooked for days’.
The homeowner was taken aback when he discovered the note, which appeared to have been written by an elderly man.

In the note, the man claimed to have lived at the address in the 1980s, before revealing a disturbing secret.
Taking to Reddit, the homeowner shared a photo of the scrawled note, which read: “Hello, my name is [redacted]. In the early ’80s, I lived here. Something strange happened in the back bedroom. I was wondering if it still happens. I think it was a ghost.”
The message went on to leave a contact number, asking the homeowner to contact him ‘if it still comes’.
Alongside the photo of the note, the homeowner wrote: “Note left on my front door several months ago by an elderly man. Gave me the spooks for a couple days.”

Reddit users share spooky encounters
After sharing the note on the r/Weird subreddit, many people came forward to share their own experiences of living in a house where paranormal activity has occurred.
“Man I lived in a super spooky house in high school. Even my mom admits it was hella haunted,” one Reddit user wrote.
I was a 300lb starting offensive lineman and I didn’t ever sleep with my lights off, that’s how creepy it was.”
They went on to admit they’ve always wanted to leave a note like this on their old address to ‘see if we were just crazy or if it is still happening’.
“Becaused from the literal day we moved in there, it was actively, actively haunted,” they added. “Never had another issue with ghosts before or after but man, f*** that house.”
Another user shared a bizarre tale of the ‘freaky’ apartment they lived in while they were studying.
“I woke up one night at around 2am to my handle twisting violently and the sound of pounding on the door. As soon as it stopped I ran to my flatmates room, him and his girlfriend were sound asleep,” they wrote.
“I never mentioned it to him, thought it was some freaky dream, two days later he asked me if I was trying to get into his room the previous night. I was looking after my parent’s dog that day.”
A week later, he woke up to the sound of someone jumping up and down outside his door, rattling the handle, while his flatmate happened to be at his girlfriend’s house.
“Eventually it got more annoying than creepy, it stopped when I walked out my room at 4am while it was happening and said ‘I do not care that you’re in my house, but if you mess with me between the hours of 10pm and 10am I will get rid of you, I don’t know how but I will’,” they continued.
“That night my air fryer exploded at 10pm on the dot, didn’t have any trouble after that.”
Homeowner urged to contact old resident
Meanwhile, many people were quick to urge the homeowner to get in contact with the man who left the note, given that that he clearly felt strong enough to leave the note in the first place.
“Poor dude has been wondering for decades if that place is as haunted as he remembers,” one person wrote.
“I’d call him up and let him know that the presence seems to have moved on, just to give him some peace of mind. People can get really spooked by that stuff for life.”
A second agreed: “The letter was pretty decent and he didn’t do anything creepy, so I would call and tell him that nothing is happening, at least to get it out of his mind,” while a third added: “It’s been bothering him for 40 years.”
Another joked: “Imagine you call him and you hear ringing from the back bedroom.”
