Nintendo 2 Switch Finally Launches – But Everyone’s Making The Same Complaint
The Nintendo Switch 2 has finally launched yet amid the excitement, everyone is making the same complaint.
The original Switch was released nearly eight years ago and has sold more than 146 million units worldwide – making it the third most popular console after Sony’s PlayStation 2 and Nintendo’s DS.
Following years of speculation and leaks, Nintendo announced the Nintendo Switch 2 on January 16, 2025.
Now, avid gamers are taking to social media and criticizing the latest launch.

After various leaks gave fans an idea of what to expect, many have been underwhelmed by the official reveal.
One person writes: “Nintendo played it safe. Switch 2 looks underwhelming at best and a completely unexcited rehash of the same old, same old at worst.”
“Nintendo Switch 2 reveal was disappointing. The overly curved design of the dock and JoyCons is terrible. The video and entire presentation felt flat and uninspired,” another user types.
Somebody else shares: “So Switch 2 is just a slightly bigger, less colorful version of the regular Switch? So disappointing.”
“I’m just going to come out and say it. The Switch 2 looks very underwhelming,” a fourth replies.

Although the teaser did not provide specifications, it showed a device with a nearly identical appearance and shape to the original console.
So far, there appear to be slight differences – the new console has a larger screen and controllers that snap onto the device instead of sliding into place.
Many Nintendo fans have expressed disappointment that the OLED screen likely isn’t returning, which made a big difference when playing the console in its handheld mode.
People have pointed out that the reveal says nothing about stick drift issues which affected users with the previous console, so there are concerns it still won’t be fixed this time.
There’s also criticism towards the new console’s name, as many hoped Nintendo would come up with a more creative name for the highly anticipated launch.
Users on X (formerly Twitter) had suggested names such as ‘Super Switch’ – this references the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, commonly shortened to SNES, released in the 1990s.
Nintendo plans to reveal more details about the console at a Nintendo Direct event on April 2.
