People Convinced Old Photo Of Child Holding iPad Is ‘Proof Of Time Travel’
Many people believe that an old photo showing a child holding what appears to be an iPad serves as ‘proof of time travel.‘
Apple may be focused on shaping the future with its cutting-edge technology, but some internet users are busy analyzing the past – particularly a decades-old photograph that has sparked heated discussions about time travel.
A vintage black-and-white image, originally taken in 1941 by photographer Edwin Rosskam, has recently resurfaced on Reddit, causing quite a stir.
The photo captures a group of children waiting in line outside a movie theater in Chicago, providing a fascinating window into a bygone era.
However, what truly has people talking isn’t the historical nature of the image, but rather an intriguing detail spotted on the far right side of the frame.
There, a young boy dressed in a suit and hat appears to be holding what some believe resembles an iPad.
Given that Apple didn’t release the first iPad until 2010, this anomaly has led some enthusiasts of the supernatural to propose an unusual explanation: the child must have somehow acquired the device in the present day and then traveled back in time with it.
The peculiar sighting has captivated social media users, with one person writing: “How is the first kid in line holding an Apple iPad in 1941[?] (Time for the theme from The Twilight Zone.)”
Another observer added: “If you zoom right in close, that is too big to be a ‘book’ or ‘notepad’ plus you can see what looks like the iconic Apple logo on the back of it.”
“You can literally see the Apple logo,” a third commented.
Adding to the mystery, other commentators noticed another potential inconsistency within the image.
A girl positioned near the center, wearing a white hat, appears to be holding an object that looks remarkably similar to a modern plastic water bottle.
One person questioned this detail, penning: “I can’t work out what that actually is. I would say that is more suspect than the ‘iPad.’”
Given that plastic water bottles weren’t commercially available until 1947 – six years after the photograph was taken – this discovery only fueled further speculation.
However, not everyone is convinced that the image provides definitive proof of time travel.
Many Reddit users have put forward more logical explanations for the anomalies.
One individual suggested that the so-called ‘water bottle’ might actually be a ‘clutch purse held on its end,’ while others argued that the supposed iPad is more likely a notebook or even a religious text.
“It’s most likely The Holy Bible. [The children] have their Sunday best on, bless their wee souls. Yes, I definitely think that’s what it is,” one person commented.
Another user pointed out that, during the early days of cinema, theater ushers would often check audiences for writing materials to prevent illegal attempts at transcribing films.
This could explain why the boy in question appears to be carrying a notebook rather than a futuristic gadget.
Skeptics have also noted that even if time travel were possible, carrying an iPad back to 1941 wouldn’t make much sense.
“Not going to be much use, NO INTERNET then!” one person quipped.
Others pointed out the historical context, with one remarking: “Ain’t no way in the world anyone black would travel back to 1941. Wasn’t exactly a ‘good time’ for us.”
