People Say Plane Passenger ‘Should Be Jailed’ After Photo Of In-Flight Screen Goes Viral
People are saying a plane passenger ‘should be jailed’ for what was on his in-flight screen.
An image taken inside a dimly lit airplane cabin has gone viral on social media as everyone points out the same thing.
Rather than join the 100 million Americans tuning in to watch the Super Bowl, which also features a much-anticipated halftime performance, one passenger had other entertainment in mind.
Now, people are taking to the comments and sharing their amusement – and some outrage – over the photo.
While everyone else sat and watched the Super Bowl, this passenger enjoyed the 2005 film Hitch, starring Will Smith and Kevin James.
X (formerly Twitter) user Brett Hanfling shared the image, joking: “The one dude watching Hitch on this plane should be jailed. A menace to society.”
Barstool Sports also weighed in on the situation, referring to him as the: “Biggest try-hard on the planet.”
The outlet continued, suggesting: “This isn’t a guy who simply wanted to watch Hitch last night – I’d imagine this person had seen the 2005 film at some point before.
“This guy wanted to send a message. He wants everyone on that plane to know he views himself as a superior being because he would never possibly engage in activity as lowly as watching the Super Bowl.”
Barstool’s critique didn’t stop there, as the outlet further questioned: “Aside from the fact this dude is just the world’s biggest loser, I guess I’d ask why such an intellectual is flying what appears to be JetBlue.
“Surely this higher caliber of human should be flying first class – or at least on an airline that has first class. Trying to flex from the cabin of a JetBlue flight is maybe the best self-own I’ve ever seen.”
However, not everyone found fault with the passenger’s decision.
Some Reddit users came to his defense, with one commenter pointing out: “To be fair, all he has to do is look to the screen beside him and he can watch both Hitch and the Super Bowl at the same time.”
Another user added: “Perhaps they aren’t into sports. I love sports and thought the Super Bowl was a good game, but who am I to judge someone who doesn’t watch it on his screen, especially when he can glance over at his neighbor’s screen and see the score if he wanted?”
A third commenter simply remarked: “How dare anyone not like your favorite hobby.”
