Being suspicious of infidelity in a relationship is a stressful experience, but it’s important to gather concrete evidence before making accusations.

No one wants to damage a relationship with baseless claims, especially if their partner is innocent.

That’s where experts like private investigators come into the picture – and one seasoned PI has noticed a telling behavior that many unfaithful men share.

Ray Ranno, a private investigator based in Connecticut, has years of experience conducting surveillance on cheating spouses.

Over time, he’s identified a consistent pattern among men who are having affairs – and it’s surprisingly simple.

Appearing on the Locked In with Ian Bick podcast, Ranno revealed all about his fascinating career.

Once a suspicious meeting occurs, Ranno steps in with his tools to collect the evidence his client needs.

Though popular media might depict private eyes hiding in trench coats with oversized cameras, Ranno’s methods are far more discreet and high-tech.

He described using a seemingly ordinary item – a coffee cup – that’s actually equipped with a hidden high-definition camera.

“If I go into a coffee place, or a supermarket, wherever I need to be, I just take the lid off, turn it on, put the cap on and it looks like I’m walking around with a coffee. Meantime, I’m videotaping everything,” he explained.

After capturing video and photographic evidence, Ranno hands it over to the person who hired him, helping them confirm whether their suspicions were valid.

He also revealed a key behavior he’s observed time and time again when following suspected cheaters.

Car wash

“If a guy’s going to pick up his sweetie on the side, he wants a clean car,” Ranno said. It may seem like a small detail, but for Ranno, this action is a major red flag.

According to him, this act of cleaning the car isn’t just about cleanliness – it’s a preparatory move that often precedes meeting up with someone they’re trying to impress.

“As soon as somebody goes to the car wash I think, ‘Ha ha, what’s next?’ It’s amazing how they do that,” he added.

Ranno further explained that this behavior tends to be more common among men than women.

“Women don’t do it so much because they usually jump in the guy’s car,” he noted. “Men always want to drive. It’s very rare that I see a guy jump into a female’s car.”

Although each case is unique, it seems that a quick trip to the car wash might mean more than just a desire for a shiny vehicle – it could be the first clue that something’s going on behind the scenes.
