An airline has issued a major warning about what color suitcase you should avoid bringing to the airport.

The airport can be hectic enough as it is, without the stress of struggling to find your suitcase or worrying someone else will mistakenly pick it up.

If you find yourself in a situation where you’ve lost your baggage, it’s possible that it can set you back hundreds of dollars, as it can be difficult to claim back your belongings on insurance.

So, a flight provider has revealed which color suitcases you should avoid when heading on vacation.

Hopefully, it will make your experience a lot less stressful.

Budget airline Ryanair suggests that if you don’t want your luggage to be swapped with someone else’s, there is one color you should absolutely avoid, as well as some others that aren’t advisable either.

It suggests you avoid suitcases that are black, gray, or navy. The dark tones make the suitcases almost indistinguishable from one another on the conveyor belt.

The budget airline suggests: “Make it easier to spot your checked-in luggage on the carousel, especially if your luggage is black, navy or gray.

“Add a colourful luggage tag or ribbon to the handle so that there’s no confusion on arrival.”

Frankfurt Airport boss, Stefan Schulte, also urges people to avoid bringing black suitcases on their travels. His airport has struggled with those that are ‘hard to distinguish from each other.’

He says: “Many people travel with black suitcases on wheels which makes identifying them very time-intensive.”

These warnings come after a report from The Economic Times found that black bags are the most commonly lost of any color at the airport.

Jamie Fraxier, a travel expert with U.S. summer camp Wild Packs, explains to the publication: “Hard-sided black suitcases are the most common luggage type globally, making them both the hardest to identify and the most likely to go missing.

“This style of suitcase, which also includes wheels, is the default choice for travelers. But if your bag is misplaced, you don’t want it to be hard to distinguish from other luggage.”

So, if you want to avoid lost bags, choosing a brighter color is the sensible way to go.

It can also make it much easier for airport staff to help identify your bags and have them returned if they do become lost.
