A Russian tourist accidentally revealed President Vladimir Putin’s S-400 air defence location in an innocent selfie posted on social media.

Inadvertently helping Ukraine’s armed forces, the swim-trunk-clad tourist posed in front of the Russian arsenal allowing the location to be pinpointed.

Ukraine’s military chiefs couldn’t help but thank him, retweeting the post and writing: “Maybe we are being too hard on Russian tourists.

“Sometimes they can be really helpful.

“Like this man taking pictures of Russian air defence positions near Yevpatoria, in occupied Crimea.

“Thank you and keep up the good work!.”

According to the Express, Crimea has been the target of a number of disastrous missile attacks from Kyiv over the past few weeks.

Earlier this month, an airfield in Saky military base was hit, causing panic among Russian holidaymakers in the region with many fleeing the peninsula.

Russia-Ukraine war analysts later said the Black Sea Fleet had ‘lost half of its airforce’ in the attack.

The S-400 air defence systems pictured in the tourist’s selfie are designed to try and shoot down incoming missiles sent from Ukraine.

Twitter users were quick to mock the hiccup and the Russian military, with one person writing: “Should drop a bunch of smartphones onto the beaches full of Russian tourists so we can get more of this.”

Another said: “So have you already sent some mindblowing gifts to this exact location?”

A third joked: “I am announcing a photo contest for all Russian patriots: Take the best photo with Russian military equipment in the field.

“Please attach the GPS coordinates to the pictures to verify the location. Reward for the winner – beautiful fireworks.”

“Great job, Russian tourists. Thank you for helping in returning Crimea to its home,” added a fourth.
