Vladimir Putin appears to have threatened nuclear attacks in his latest TV broadcast which aired on February 24.

The Russian President has warned that if any country attempts to interfere with his plans for Ukraine, they will face unexplained ‘consequences’.

In his speech, he stated: “To anyone who would consider interfering from the outside – if you do, you will face consequences greater than any you have faced in history.”

Analysts reportedly believe that the threat of a nuclear attack was implicit in this broadcast.

Following Putin’s statement, Prime Minister Boris Johnson addressed the nation and stated that the President’s attacks ‘must end in failure’.

Johnson said: “It’s an attack on democracy throughout the world.

“This is about the right of a country to choose their own future and that is a right the UK will always defend.”

Referring to the UK, he added: “We will of course do everything to keep our country safe.”

Elsewhere in his statement, the PM addressed the people of Ukraine and how he plans to help.

Johnson said: “Today in concert with our allies, we will agree [to] a massive package of economic sanctions designed in time to hobble the Russian economy.”

He continued: “We’re with you, we’re praying for you and your families.

“I don’t believe the Russian dictator will subdue the national feeling of Ukrainians.”

Taking to Twitter, the PM went on to say that he has been left ‘appalled’ by the recent events.

He tweeted: “I am appalled by the horrific events in Ukraine and I have spoken to President Zelenskyy to discuss next steps.

“President Putin has chosen a path of bloodshed and destruction by launching this unprovoked attack on Ukraine. The UK and our allies will respond decisively.”
