A ‘vlogger kit’ for kids has caused a huge debate on social media.

It all started when Twitter user Daniel Viner shared a snap of the toy on his account, captioning it: “This is depressing on so many levels.”

So far, his post has accumulated 83,000 likes and 7,000 retweets.

Many have also taken to the comments and agreed that it’s ‘sad’ to think of children aspiring to become social media influencers.

One person replied: “The world is f***ed.”

Another added: “If you buy this for your kid, you’re ill. Simple as. It will stop them being normal, kids going out kicking balls, building dens etc. Also, basically giving them no hope of not being an insufferable w***er.”

However, thousands of people said they didn’t see the problem with the toy and said that, actually, it was better than enforcing gender stereotypes, such as girls being giving toy kitchen sets.

One Twitter user asked: “How is this different from any other toy that lets you pretend you’re a movie star or a singer or something?”

In agreement, a second tweeted: “People will give a kid a toy gun but absolutely draw the line at a toy camera…”

Hilariously, one person shared a photo of a toy McDonald’s kitchen set, remarking: “Oh honey, that’s not depressing. This is depressing.”

Also, many people said that although they had no issue with the toy itself, they couldn’t believe it was selling for $50.

“It’s just depressing that it’s $50 lol. But kids love to mimic what they see and ‘vlogging’ is all around us,” another said. “Nothing is wrong with this.”
