Harry Potter fans are seriously disturbed after finding out how Voldemort was conceived.
The wizarding film series is one of the most successful franchises, having grossed $7.7 billion over a 10-year period.
It is based on the book series by J.K. Rowling and has deep lore that die-hard fans love researching.
However, there is one bit of trivia that Potterheads are only just realising and they’ve been left unsettled by it.

The big bad of the Harry Potter series is Lord Voldemort and just mentioning his name sends fear down its characters.
He has cemented himself as one of the most iconic villains in pop culture who fans love to hate.
While the films leave out a lot of his backstory, the books go into it in great detail – including on how he was conceived.
In a Reddit thread titled ‘What is a dark fact about Harry Potter that is rarely addressed?’ one fan responds with: “How Voldemort was conceived.”
A Potterhead proceeds to explain that Voldemort was conceived under the influence of a love potion.

In the lore, a love potion serves the same purpose as a date r*** drug – due to the person not being able to give consent while under the influence.
In Rowling’s books, the person who’s been given the potion becomes obsessed with the person who gives it to them.
Fans know that Voldemort’s father was Tom Riddle Senior, who was a muggle, and his mother, who was a witch.
In the sixth book – ‘The Half-Blood Prince’ – it is revealed his mother gave his father a love potion and she then found herself pregnant.
As she was pregnant with Riddle’s child, she believed he would still love her even if she stopped giving him the love potion.
Instead, he ended up hating and leaving her.
One fan on Reddit explains: “The issue with being born from a love potion is you lose the ability to feel love and any emotion associated with it.
“That is why Voldemort never fell in love or felt compassion for anyone because he couldn’t have those emotions due to being conceived through a love potion.
“After Voldemort grew older he went back home and killed his father’s side of the family and stole some good.
“Those first murders were probably how he split his soul the first time as he used the family heirloom for it.”

“It’s tragic and super dark,” expresses one person.
“Messed up,” responds someone else.
While another person describes it as ‘really bleak’.
A fourth fan asks: “Isn’t that why he is the way that he is, because a child conceived by those means are cursed to be unable to feel love?”
Others are taking to the comments and are saying that they would love to see a spinoff film or TV series that follows the young Voldemort.
