A waiter has sparked a debate after shaming a diner on social media over their tip.
A TikToker user, who goes by the @kingj023241, took to the social media platform and shared a clip of the bill, alongside the caption: “Your thoughts?”
The customer’s bill shows the order came to $73.45 and they were served by a Dana G.
As well as paying the general charge, the diner also gave a tip of $6.55, which brought the overall total to $80.
On the receipt, the person had also written: “You were great, holidays are just rough right now.”
The clip has since been viewed over 660,000 times and many people have taken to the comments and shared their thoughts.
Defending the customer, one TikToker penned: “I think the family enjoyed a nice dinner out and still tipped. They didn’t owe an explanation.
“Y’all be mad at the wrong people.”
In agreement, a second said: “I read this on Google and I instantly came here to say, no one owes you anything, except your employer.”

A third commented: “Tips aren’t mandatory. They left a note. Be understanding. You chose this line of work. Roll with the up’s and downs with waitressing. That’s life.”
“As someone who used to be a waiter. I’d be perfectly happy with that tip,” a fourth wrote. “Just because the food is a tad more expensive, did you really do that much more?”
However, some people have defended the waiter, arguing that if they could afford the meal, they should be able to tip.
One viewer said: “You can afford $73 and some change to feed yourself but not enough to tip? Don’t eat out if you can’t afford the service.”
