It’s a great start to the week for Marvel fans around the world because today marks the release of the final trailer for Black Widow.
Given everything that happened in Avengers: Endgame, it was always going to take a while to continue the next phase of the MCU, but it looks as though our superheroes are ready to return to the big screen as it has kickstarted the eagerly anticipated “Phase 4” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Black Widow.
The trailer drop has given fans plenty of things to get excited about and for those who are desperate to see what the so-called “Phase 4” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has to offer, it seems as though the MCU is not only ready to return but to deliver too.
Black Widow is a stand-alone film that follows Natasha Romanoff in-between the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Scarlett Johansson returns as Romanoff and as the Avenger finds herself alone, she has to deal with a dangerous conspiracy which ties to her past, whilst as she learns the consequences of her previous life when working as a spy before joining the Avengers.

As well as the familiar face of Johansson, Black Widow will welcome new members to MCU in Florence Pugh, who plays Yelena Belova – another Black Widow agent and sister-figure to Romanoff, and David Harbour, who plays Red Guardian – the Russian counterpart to Captain America. Rachel Weisz also joins the cast as veteran spy Melina Vostokoff. Oh yeah, and Ray Winstone is part of the cast too!
Ray Winstone in a Marvel film, who’d have thought it?
Meanwhile, there are rumours going around that Robert Downey Jr may make a brief return as Tony Stark but as of yet, there has been no confirmation. So fans of Iron Man may be able to see RDJ back once again in the MCU, but even if the character does return, it’s likely to just be a cameo.
Directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Marvel powerhouse Kevin Feige, Black Widow will kick off Phase 4 of the MCU in May and will be released by Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios.
